Thoms off to an impressive start for Heidelberg softball this season

Firelands’ Dana Thoms led the way for Heidelberg softball, as she picked up a pair of wins in a doubleheader sweep of Oberlin College on Saturday.

The Berg won 12-1 in five innings in game one and 12-4 in game two.
Heidelberg, who now stands at 12-2 overall, is off to the best start in the history of the program.

Thoms improved her record to 8-1 with the pair of wins. In game one, Thoms pitched a three-hitter, while only giving up one run. In the second, she threw 3 2/3 innings in relief to earn the win. She struck out four, while giving up seven hits.

Keystone’s Ashley Stromack went 3-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the 'Berg's offensive attack.

Last season, Thoms started in 18 games and appeared in 24. She was fourth on the team in assists (27), and had a .912 fielding percentage. She went 1-6 on the mound.

At Firelands, she was a three-year letterwinner in softball, basketball and volleyball. She also earned first team All-West Shore Conference, first team All-Lorain County and second team All-Ohio in softball.
