Casey finishes solid freshman season at Heidelberg
For the second time in three years, Heidelberg University’s mens basketball team was trying for an Ohio Athletic Conference title, but it came up short, sustaining a 82-69 loss to Wilmington College at the John Carroll University’s DeCarlo Varsity Center in University Heights.
The ‘Berg finishes their season with a 15-13 overall record and marked the seventh appearance in the OAC Championship game.
Admiral King’s Adrian Casey, who is just a freshman, hit two free throws to put the Berg on top 32-31, but Wilmington answered with a 6-0 run to take the largest lead before halftime en route to its win.
Casey played in 27 games this season, including seven starts. He finished sixth in scoring with a 6.3 points per game average and second in rebounding with 141. His 5.2 rebounds per game average led the team. He led the team in rebounds in nine games this season and scoring once – a game he scored his career-high of 18 points against Ohio Northern.
Huron’s Matt Grieves, a senior, played in 25 games and averaged 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
