Ilg closes out solid career at UC San Diego


Avon Lake’s Annette Ilg was named a California Collegiate Athletic Association Second Team selection, after her outstanding season and career, playing basketball for UC San Diego.

UC San Diego won its second-straight CCAA Championship this season and was ranked 12th in the nation.

In her last game for the Tritons, Ilg was the story, scoring 25 points, while going 9-for-16 from the floor, including 3-for-6 from behind the arc. She also tallied eight rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Ilg had an outstanding postseason - averaging better than 22 points in the last three games of her college career.

Ilg takes home her first career all-conference selection after averaging 11.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.1 steals during the regular season.

The guard has been outstanding in her final season at UCSD, shooting over 40 percent from the floor and scoring 10 or more 17 times during the season.

She scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Tritons to an 82-80 double overtime victory over No. 20 Seattle Pacific on Dec. 28.
