San Felippo brothers reunite on baseball diamond in college
WEST LIBERTY, West Virginia - Brothers Tony San Felippo and Dominic San Felippo had a chance to reunite on the baseball field last week.
Tony’s West Liberty State College Hilltoppers celebrated Senior Day by sweeping Dominic’s Wheeling Jesuit College Cardinals, 10-2 and 13-3 in a double header played at Kovalik Field in West Virginia.
Tony was acknowleged before the game with fellow seniors, while brother Dominic had a good seat from the opposing dugout to see his brother’s four-year career get honored.
Tony is currently batting .271 (13-for-48) with eight RBIs in 19 games played.
As a junior, Tony started in 36 of 38 games at shortstop. He hit .254 with six RBIs and 26 runs scored.
As a sophomore, he started in all 49 games at shortstop and batted .307 with a team-best 42 hits. He added 20 RBIs and scored 27 runs.
Dominic, who is a sophomore, has started 37 games and leads the Cardinals with a .357 batting average. He has four doubles, a triple and third-best on the team with 14 RBIs.
The brothers played together for two years at Firelands High School and have a younger brother Joe, an eighth grader that will play high school baseball next year.
