Patrick named Outstanding Senior Athletes at Baldwin-Wallace


Western Reserve’s Greg Patrick was among two Baldwin-Wallace athletes to get named Outstanding Senior Athletes for Baldwin-Wallace.

Patrick has turned in one of the most accomplished seasons by any thrower in B-W school history. During this indoor season, Patrick earned the second All-American honor of his career with a third-place finish in the shot put at the NCAA Championship meet.

Prior to nationals, Patrick won the OAC Championship in the shot put with a school-record throw of 54 feet, 6 3/4 inches. He also placed second in the weight throw and was named the OAC’s Bud Yost Most Outstanding Field Athlete.

During the current outdoor season, Patrick won the OAC Championship in the shot put and has broken his own school-record in the event with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 55’10.5."

Last outdoor season, Patrick placed eighth in the shot put at nationals to become the first male in school history to earn All-American honors in the outdoor shot put. Prior to the meet, he was named as the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year.

Patrick betters school record at Baldwin-Wallace


Western Reserve’s Greg Patrick won the shot put for Baldwin-Wallace and bettered his Yellow Jackets' school record and NCAA provisional mark with a throw of 55’1.50” at the Sparky Adams Invitational meet held in Berea on Saturday.

Patrick named OAC Field Athlete of the Week


Western Reserve’s Greg Patrick was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last weekend, throwing the shot put for Baldwin-Wallace.

Patrick set a school record in the shot put with a throw of 54-feet, 10-inches. The previous record was set by Jim Tillotson in 1975 with a mark of 54-4.5.

Patrick also placed second in a field of mostly Division I athletes and his throw hit the provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Division III Championship meet that will take place at B-W in late May.

Patrick breaks B-W school record in shotput


Western Reserve’s All-American thrower Greg Patrick set a Baldwin-Wallace school record in the shot put with a mark of 54 feet, 10 inches on Saturday at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte 49er Classic at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center.

The previous mark was set by Jim Tillotson in 1975, with a throw of 54’4.5". Patrick placed second overall in a field consisting heavily of Division I competitors and hit a high provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Championship meet in late May.

Patrick named All-American at Baldwin-Wallace

Western Reserve’s Greg Patrick placed third in the shot put to earn NCAA Division III All-American status on Saturday at the National Indoor Track and Field Championships at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.

Patrick threw the shot a school-record 55 feet and 1/4 inch on the fifth of his six throws that equates to 16.77 meters. Patrick became the school’s first ever All-American in the indoor shot put.

"It is really nice to throw your personal best at a national meet," Patrick said through a press release. "I have had a personal record in every meet so far this season, so to continue my progression has been a good thing."

The All-America honor is the second in Patrick’s career as he also placed eighth in the shot put at last year’s NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship Meet. His throw topped his previous school-record throw of 54’6.75" when he won an individual title at this winter’s Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championship Meet by 5 3/4 inches.

"In my first few throws, I wasn’t finishing my throw," Patrick added. "By my fourth and fifth throws when I threw it out there, I had figured it out and they were my best. It’s very exciting, and I look to carry it on to the national outdoor meet. I am very excited about having my final collegiate meet in my home stadium."

Last season, Patrick was named the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year prior to the championships and the Ohio Athletic Conference "Sparky" Adams Field Athlete of the Year after the OAC Championships.

Patrick named OAC Field Event Athlete of the Year


BEREA, Ohio - Western Reserve’s Greg Patrick has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Year for Baldwin-Wallace, announced Saturday at the OAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Wilmington College.

Patrick, who is a three-time All-OAC thrower, placed first in the shotput with a 54-foot throw, which qualified him for the NCAA Division III national meet. He also tossed the hammer (163-2) and the discus (152-5), both second place finishes. His Yellow Jackets’ team placed third in the conference meet.

Last year as a sophomore, Patrick earned All-Ohio honors by placing third in the shotput (49-6 1/2). As a freshman, he earned All-Ohio honors with a fourth-place finish with a discus throw of 141-3. He also received the Tim McCaig Outstanding Male Thrower award for the shotput and was named Co-Most Valuable Athlete for the Yellow Jackets.
