In the second half, Wilmington opened by outscoring B-W 7-4 to build its biggest lead at that point at 40-24 when junior guard Antonio Bowman made one of two free throws at 16:54. The Yellow Jackets came right back with a 6-0 run to close to 40-30 when Cabbil made a driving layup at 15:02.

Cabbil chipped in with 12 and a team-high six assists. B-W kept up the pressure and closed to seven points at 52-45 when Kevin Krakowiak made a three-pointer at 5:43, but on the ensuing possession Wilmington freshman guard Klarke Ransome scored, was fouled and made the free throw to push the lead back to 10 points at 55-45.

St. Mary graduate Catherine Spisak scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed six rebounds as Baldwin-Wallace defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University, 56-54 on Saturday at the ONU Sports Center. The victory moved B-W into first place in the OAC.

With its win, B-W is now 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the OAC. Ohio Northern dipped to 12-4 overall and 7-2 in the OAC.

Spisak scored on a short jump shot to give the Yellow Jackets an early lead. The Yellow Jackets rebuilt its lead to nine points at 25-16 at the 2:33 mark when Spisak made a pair of free throws.

The lead grew to 12 points at 38-26 at the 12:50 mark when Firelands graduate Ali Stack made a layup.

St. Mary’s Catherine Spisak scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help Baldwin-Wallace win its fourth straight game with a 70-57 win over Wilmington College on Saturday.

B-W improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference with the win.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Marietta to play Marietta College in an OAC game at 7:30 p.m.

Elyria’s Promis Cabbil scored a game-high 18 points and dished six assists for Baldwin-Wallace as the Yellow Jackets defeated Heidelberg, 86-75 in an Ohio Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday.

In the second half, Heidelberg had a 45-44 but B-W came right back with a layup from Chris Ameen and a 3-pointer by Cabbil at 15:59 that gave the Yellow Jackets a 49-45 lead. Cabbil gave B-W a six-point bulge at 58-52 when Cabbil made another 3.

Clearview's Kyle Baughman has selected Baldwin-Wallace to continue his basketball career in college.

Baughman, who plans to major in business administration and finance, competed in cross country, football, basketball and baseball at Clearview and earned a total of 10 varsity letters, including four in baseball, three in basketball, two in cross country and one in football.

As a senior team captain, Baughman helped lead the Clippers to both the Sectional and District titles and into the "Sweet 16" of the OHSAA State Tournament.

Individually, he averaged 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals per game. For his efforts, he was tabbed as an All-Patriot Athletic Conference First Teamer and the PAC Most Valuable Player, first-team All-Lorain County and honorable mention All-District. Baughman also received the Most Assists Award.

St. Mary’s Catherine Spisak hit a clutch free throw that put Baldwin-Wallace ahead 66-65 with 16 seconds remaining and the Baldwin-Wallace women’s team rallied to defeat cross-town rival and sixth-seeded John Carroll, 68-65 in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday.

The Yellow Jackets (18-8) advance to the OAC final four on Friday in Columbus.
B-W has beaten JCU six-straight times and in 36 of the last 37 meetings to lead the all-time series, 41-19. With its loss, JCU ends its season at 11-14 and on a four-game losing streak.

B-W is back in action on Friday when it plays second-seeded Mount Union College, a 59-56 winner against Otterbein College, in one semifinal game at host and top-seeded Capital University in the Capital Center in Columbus at 7:30 p.m. Capital hosts Ohio Northern University in the other semifinal match. The 2010 OAC Women’s Basketball Championship Game will be played on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Elyria's Promis Cabbil continues to impress for Baldwin-Wallace men's team, as the Yellow Jackets won for their sixth time in the last seven games on Saturday, defeating Otterbein College, 79-63 in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Cabbil had another game with double digits in scoring with 12 points, along with five assists. Cabbil leads the team with an average of 12.8 points and nearly five assists per game.

Wellington's Brandon Schmidt has played in all 16 games and is averaging 4.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Western Reserve's John Pickett has played in six games and has scored 11 points (1.8 ppg), while St. Mary's Taylor Roth has played in five games with five points (1.0 ppg). North Ridgeville's Jason Ice has played in one game, going 0-for-1 in one minute of action.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 10-6 overall and 5-4 in the OAC and play Wilmington College this Saturday at 3 p.m. at Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea. B-W then plays arch-rival John Carroll University next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the DeCarlo Center in University Heights.

St. Mary's Catherine Spisak scored 10 points and Firelands' Ali Stack totaled career-highs with nine points and four assists to help lead the Baldwin-Wallace women's basketball team over Otterbein College, 75-53 in Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon in the Ursprung Gymnasium. The win is its season-high seventh-straight win and sixth straight over the Cardinals.

The Yellow Jackets are now 12-4 overall and 8-1 in the OAC while Otterbein fell to 6-10 overall and 3-6 in the conference.

Open Door’s Tori Davis, who became an All-American playing basketball at Baldwin-Wallace, has been named as the Division III Men’s Basketball Best Player of the 2000s for his accomplished career as a Yellow Jacket from 2003-2007.

Davis ended his B-W career with a school-record 2,232 points. He was twice selected as a D-III All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, d3hoops.com and DIII News. In addition, he was named the National Player of the Year by DIII News in both 2005-06 and 2006-07.

For his career, Davis was a four-time All-OAC and four-time DIII All-Great Lakes Region selection and a 10-time OAC Player of the Week.

In four seasons, he helped lead the Yellow Jackets to an 81-31 (.723) record with one OAC regular season and two OAC Tournament titles and two berths in the NCAA Division III National Tournament. The 81 wins are the most by any four-year basketball player in the history of the program.

In addition to his school scoring mark, Davis finished fifth all-time in rebounding with 950 and first in blocked shots with 240.
