Jarvis records 16 kills in Akron’s season finale loss
Amherst’s Courtney Jarvis, a junior, led Akron with 16 kills, but Akron ended its season on Saturday at the Mizuno Thanksgiving Tournament falling, 3-0 to Long Beach State and 3-1 to University of California Irvine.
Traveling to Irvine, Calif. for the second match of the day against UC-Irvine, Akron won the third set by a score of 25-15 but fell 25-10, 25-23, 25-19 to conclude the season.
Jarvis was the only Zip in double-figure kills in the defeat.
The Zips finish the 2010 campaign 15-17 overall and 7-9 in the Mid-American Conference. The win total in both categories boasts the most since the 2003 season.
