Lorain native Newton playing at Abilene Christian
Lorain native Steve Newton, who left Admiral King and moved to Arizona (graduated from Tucson Rincon High School), signed a scholarship last month to play basketball at Abilene Christian University.
Newton returned to the area in 2008 and played basketball for a year at Lorain County Community College, averaging 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists per game, and was touted as one of the top Junior College guards in the country.
Newton had offers out of high school after starring at Tucson Rincon but decided he needed a break from the sport and took off several years before heading back to Lorain.
