Amherst’s Ryan Rua was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Midwest Region Second Team for his outstanding season at Lake Erie College.

Rua hit a single-season record-tying 11 home runs for the second year in a row and became Lake Erie’s career leader in that category midway through the season.

He tied for the team lead with 60 hits and hit .400 for the season with 38 runs scored, 12 doubles and a team-leading 40 RBIs. His 107 total bases were a school record, as was his .713 slugging percentage. Rua also stole 10 bases and was hit-by-pitch six times.

He also made eight appearances out of the bullpen and posted a 2.70 ERA in 13 1/3 innings, which included one start and one save on the season, holding opponents to a .231 average.

Lake Erie won a school-record 18 games this season, highlighted by a 19-4 win road win over NCAA Division I Cleveland State University during the season.
