Amherst’s Ryan Rua hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs for Lake Erie College in the first game of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday.

The Storm defeated Northwood University, 11-9 and 4-3 to take the rain-shortened series 3-1.

Rua led Lake Erie with three hits, while five teammates also had multiple hits in game one.

The Storm, which reached 10 conference wins for the second time in program history and are in fourth place in the conference standings, hosts third-place Ashland University on Wednesday for a GLIAC doubleheader at Classic Park in Eastlake.
