Chiricosta enjoying senior season at Allegheny
WOOSTER, Ohio - Avon Lake's Matt Chiricosta (St. Ignatius) is enjoying his senior season at Allegheny College.
On Sunday, Chiricosta defeated Wooster’s Pat Grab, 6-1, 6-2 in first singles action and then teamed up with Ben Hurtuk in doubles to defeat Grab and Ethan Arenstein, 8-5.
The Gators slipped to 8-7 in losing to Wooster, but Chiricosta improved his singles’ mark to 11-4, while also sporting a 12-3 doubles’ record.
Allegheny was just coming off a 9-0 sweep over Oberlin College on Saturday where Chiricosta outlasted Ben Godlove in first singles, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 in North Coast Athletic Conference East Division action.
Chiricosta also won his doubles match with Hurtuk, as they defeated Godlove and Joe Leffler, 8-4.
Allegheny (8-7, 1-1) will not return to action until April 14 when it hosts Westminster in non-conference action.
