Rua named to the ABCA All-Region Team
Amherst’s Ryan Rua was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Midwest Region Second Team for his outstanding season at Lake Erie College.
Rua, a sophomore shortstop, hit a single-season record-tying 11 home runs for the second year in a row and became Lake Erie’s career leader in home runs midway through the season. He knocked 60 hits and hit an even .400 for the season with 38 runs scored, 12 doubles and a team-leading 40 RBIs. His 107 total bases were a school record, as was his .713 slugging percentage.

Rua also made eight appearances out of the bullpen and posted a 2.70 ERA in 13 1/3 innings. He made one start and earned one save on the season, holding opponents to a .231 average.
Lake Erie won a school-record 18 games this season, highlighted by a 19-4 win road win over NCAA Division I Cleveland State University on March 28, and was one of seven schools to have multiple players named to the All-Midwest Region Team.
